we took an 8 hour bus trip up to donegal for the varsities. i'd heard that there were about 30 different colleges from all around ireland there (lots of them small) competing for the title. events included canoe polo, long distance, white water, (class 2, 3 and 4) and freestyle within surf. UCC came in 2nd altogether! that's so good... i'm proud of us. we would have won, if we won the polo, but we surrendered that title. it's okay. we did our best....
more importantly, we came in first for the fancy-dress competition, themed: "i'm your worst nightmare" i went as a rower with some of the other girls.. get it? canoers hate rowers. because everyone confuses the two. effin' rowers... in any case. it was such a good weekend. i took it easy, too.. i'm not in the mood much lately to be within those who stay up all night and into the morning drinking. i'd much prefer to sleep. ;)

saturday was long distance. isn't this picture beautiful? i wanted to stay in that moment for a while. or just the looking on. the only thing that would have made it better would have been if we were on a serious white water river instead of this flat lake. (boring)

finally, on sunday, just before we left to drive the 8 hours back to cork, we had the freestyle competition in surf. i wish i could do some wiki-wiki freestyle. someday, someday.
